This website
is designed to be as simple to use as possible. There are a
few features of the search engine that you should keep in mind
during your search:
- The
searchable database is broken down into four fields
of inquiry based on organization (name), field of study (discipline),
location (state), and deadline date (whether the program is
currently active or inactive).
- You
can leave any field of inquiry unchanged or unselected. This
will allow you to access the results for all options under
a particular search criterion. For example, say you want to
search for all possible internship opportunities in the state
if Ohio. You would then select OH under the State
box and leave the other search fields unselected. Please note
that the deadline date field is set to Active
by default so that your search will bring up internships currently
available. If you would like to search for all internships
regardless of the deadline, you can change this option to
Both.
- Additionally,
if you do not have a preference on location, you can check
the "nationwide" box. Then all entries based on
your other preferences will be displayed regardless of location.
- It is
possible to select more than one choice in any of the fields
(for example, more than one state or more than one discipline)
by holding down the CTRL key while you click on your selections
with the mouse.
- You
also may use the CTRL key to de-select a choice if you change
your mind. If you want to de-select all search criteria and
start over, there is a "reset" button at the bottom
of the page.
- When
you have entered all of your desired search criteria, hit
the search button and the results of your search will appear.
Keep in mind that the results of your search may be listed
on more than one page.
- To get
more information on one of the available programs listed on
the results page, click on the organization name and a new
page with detailed information will appear. If you still desire
more information, then in most cases a link is provided both
to the organization homepage and also (if available) its own
college program site.
- If you
still have questions about the internship database and search
engine, please refer to our FAQ page
or post your question on the Tech-Interns message board.
